According to the estimate for 2021, the population of the Arab world was 444.81 million people, in North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, and the Levant. Most of the area of the Arab countries is in Africa, although the Arab world has a vast area of 13.4 million square kilometers, 78% of it is located in the north and east of the continent of Africa.

Arable land - in this giant area - is minimal, not exceeding 3.6%, and a third of these agricultural lands are located around the shores of the Nile River alone, and about half of them are distributed among the Maghreb countries, and a quarter in the Levant and Iraq, while the Arabian Peninsula is almost devoid of any agricultural spots.

Many Arab states did not emerge as independent governments until the middle or end of the twentieth century, so their membership in the Arab League was delayed. The university was established in 1946 after a meeting in Cairo, while it was established, its membership was only seven countries, namely: Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen, and during the following years more countries joined the university, the last of which was the Comoros, which did not obtain its membership until 1993, and before that the last countries to join were Djibouti and Palestine at the end of the seventies.

Economy of Arab Countries

Most Arab countries depend on the export of oil and its derivatives as a cornerstone of their economic systems, as the Arab world contains 46% of the world's known oil reserves, as well as almost a quarter of the world's gas reserves, and the vast majority of these giant reserves are concentrated in only eight countries: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the Emirates, Bahrain, Libya, Algeria, and some other Arab countries have good reserves of oil and natural gas, such as Egypt, Sudan and Tunisia, but a relatively small percentage of their economies depend on Petroleum derivatives.

The Arab world exports some raw materials from minerals and other natural elements, and exports small quantities of agricultural products, such as cotton, but it does not export any kind of manufactured products, and in return, the Arab countries receive various types of imports from other countries of the world, as they import electronic devices, equipment, means of transport and various chemical goods.


The term Arab world

It is the term given to the geographical area that extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Arabian Sea and the Arabian Gulf in the east, and this geographical area is characterized by a common language, a common culture, and a common religion, and this region includes the countries joining the League of Arab States in West Asia, North, and East Africa.

The historical beginning of the intellectual movement that calls for Arabism and the unification of the word Arabs, from which the term "Arab world" or "Arab world" emerged, at the end of the nineteenth century, following the intensification of Turkish racism in the Ottoman Empire, and the oppression of the Arab population in the state, and Arab unity gained momentum to turn into a literary and intellectual movement, and its political impact extended to be adopted by several political parties in Arab countries.
