Kuwait includes several museums, the most important of which are the following:

  • Kuwait National Museum: It is one of the most prominent museums that express the pride of the State of Kuwait in its history, as the museum displays an amazing variety of archaeological tools dating back to the Bronze Age, and the museum aims to preserve the social, economic, and cultural heritage of the State of Kuwait through an accurate embodiment of what life was like in Kuwait before the discovery of oil, in addition to the presence of the planetarium in it, which provides the feature of displaying stories with three-dimensional technology.
  • Tariq Rajab Museum: The name of the museum goes back to the first Minister of Antiquities in Kuwait, Tariq Rajab, who was a lover of art and heritage, as he displayed a special collection of art artifacts inside, and the museum is located in the suburb of Jabriya, and includes thousands of archaeological artifacts that include jewelry, fashion, in addition to those that reflect ancient Islamic art, and the museum also displays the art of ancient Arabic calligraphy.
  • Museum of Arab-Islamic Sciences: It is considered one of the most prominent museums included in the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center, and displays the most important scientific and artistic achievements, as the museum includes a collection of exhibits related to astronomy, geology, medicine, engineering, and others, and reflects the most prominent discoveries dating back to the Islamic world in the past, and also includes recreational facilities such as cafes and gift shops.
  • Maritime Museum: The museum cherishes Kuwait's maritime heritage, as its entrance is decorated with three beautiful wooden boats, and the museum includes a comprehensive collection of vivid photographs that reflect memories of Kuwait, in addition to ships and a collection of ancient equipment and tools that were used in sailing, fishing, and pearl searching.

There are many cultural centers in Kuwait, the most famous of which are the following:

  • Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center: It is one of the largest cultural complexes in the world, and includes more than 1,100 exhibitions, in addition to 6 museums, including the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Space Museum, and others, in addition to the Fine Arts Center.
  • Al-Amrikani Cultural Center: It is located within the former American Mission Complex, and is the headquarters of the House of Islamic Antiquities, where this cultural organization reviews a group of antiquities dating back to the history of Islamic art, and the center includes more than 20,000 pieces of rare handicrafts, in addition to monuments dating back to the Mesopotamian civilization.
  • Scientific Center: The center contains the largest aquarium in the Middle East, and its building is designed to take the shape of a sail, and there is a unique collection of marine animal species, such as giant spider crabs, luminous sea jellyfish, and sharks in huge ponds, in addition to a section to carry out interactive activities for tourists that include conducting scientific experiments and watching three-dimensional educational presentations.


Parks, resorts and entertainment centers

Kuwait includes parks, resorts and entertainment centers spread throughout it, the most prominent of which are the following:

  • Al Shaheed Park: It is the largest urban park in Kuwait, and hosts a range of educational and public programs, including environmental initiatives, public lectures, book clubs, community workshops, volunteer programs, as well as activities related to various fields, such as science, literacy, arts, and crafts directed to young people in particular.
  • Algeciras: with an area of approximately 758,000 km2It is located near the Corniche, an artificial island established in the eighties of the last century, where visitors frequent barbecues and bicycle rentals.
  • Failaka Island: It is located 20 km from Kuwait, and traces dating back to 3000 years BC have been discovered in it, and some of these monuments date back to the Mesopotamian civilization, which lived on the island since about 2000 BC, and some handmade pieces indicate that the island has taken since ancient times a home for many people over the years.
  • Seas Day Heritage Village: It is one of the places that are recommended to visit in the evening to walk near the beaches, see gift shops and souvenirs, enjoy wandering its roads, and drink mint tea, and the village is characterized by its architectural design that resembles towers.
  • Heritage Village: The village displays Kuwaiti folklore in addition to the heritage of the Gulf peoples, as it includes 6 museums in the number of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, where each country displays its arts that express its heritage, in addition to handmade historical monuments and various folk arts, and the village sponsors a group of competitions, such as shooting and some popular games.


Beaches

Among the most prominent beaches in Kuwait are the following:

  • Messila Beach: Messila Beach is one of the most famous private beaches in Kuwait, and it is located in the Salmiya area, where the beach front extends from Kuwait Towers to the Al-Bidda area, and you can wander around the island and enjoy the picturesque views and green squares, as well as swimming pools, gardens, as well as the beach provides pools for women on specific days of the week that include some recreational activities for women.
  • Khairan Beach: Khairan Beach is located in the south of Kuwait, and the resort includes artificial water channels, and the beach is characterized by the presence of palm trees, soft sand, in addition to places designated for barbecues, and the beach provides the visitor with a range of recreational activities, such as water skiing, diving, and others.
  • Al Kout Beach: Al Kout Beach is covered with white sand, and is a destination for practicing a variety of recreational activities for families, where families flock to relax and enjoy the pools near the beach, as well as eat in it and enjoy the sunset.

Among the most famous markets in Kuwait are the following:

  • Mubarakiya Market: Souq Al-Mubarakiya retained its popularity in Kuwait even after the discovery of oil, and the shopping experience in it is unique, as the visitor enjoys wandering around it and enjoying his senses with beautiful scenes, as well as the smells of spices emanating everywhere, and the market includes a dedicated corner called the Harem Market, where women sit to sell kohl, pumice stones to soften the feet, and dresses decorated with the colors of the Kuwaiti flag.

  • The Grand Mosque: The length of its minaret reaches 74 m, and the mosque can accommodate more than 17,000 worshipers, and it also contains a replica of the oldest Qur'an in the world, and the mosque includes a front yard full of palm trees, and is decorated from the inside with stained French glass, and carved Italian marble, in addition to Moroccan mosaics, Indian teak, German chandeliers, as well as the main gold-plated dome.
  • Contemporary Art Platform: One of the best galleries in Kuwait, this huge and modernly designed platform hosts regular exhibitions showcasing works by Kuwaiti artists, as well as works by international artists on special occasions, and provides seminars and panel discussions from time to time.

  • Red Fort: The castle is located 200 meters south of Jahra, and it is a living example of ancient architecture, and it was called the Red Fort in relation to the red clay that was used in its construction, it was built during the rule of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, the seventh ruler of Kuwait, and it took about a year to build, and the castle includes 4 watchtowers, surrounded by a wall with a thickness 1/2 m, height 4.5 m.
  • Seif Palace: The palace is one of the private properties of the ruling family, and it was built by Sheikh Mubarak, and the prince did not take it as a place to live, but rather as a headquarters for celebrations, as this palace contributed to the emergence and development of the country, and it is one of the honorable examples that reflect the art of Islamic architecture, and this is evident in the mosaic floor of the palace, and the palace is characterized by its enormous internal facilities, artificial pond, helipad, and others.
